Lamps & Perfume Lamps"Lampen & Rauchverzehrer"
This category encompasses Perfume Lamps and Table Lamps. Gerold Porzellan used many of their figurine molds to make bases for table lamps, as well as the traditional style bases.
Another very interesting type of lamp, which was popular from the 1940's to 1970's in Europe, was the Perfume Lamp or "Rauchverzehrer", which helped to remove odors from the air. There were ventilation holes with one larger hole to pour in a highly fragrant oil into a reservoir near the top or backside of the lamp. The heat from a light bulb would cause the oil to emit its perfumed fragrance. Recently, an avid 30-year Perfume Lamp collector from Germany contacted me in regard to some Gerold Porzellan catalogs and photos of his own collection that he was willing to contribute to this gallery. One of the items Peter Fischer sent me are photos of a 1984 brochure of Rauchverzehrer produced during that time period. Click on the catalog pages below to enlarge them.
